Wood Columns

Custom architectural wood columns from Specialty Wood Works of Peoria are available in any size and shape built to specification. Standard square and round wood columns range in size from six inches to twelve inches in two inch increments.

Wood columns may be smooth or fluted and flutes may run the entire length or be "stop fluted" in which case the flutes are faded out at a given point. The stop flutes can be staggered or terminated at the same length.

A wooden column can be manufactured to virtually any custom specification. It can be made as a half column to wrap a pier with lock miter edges for easy installation, or it can have square finished edges to be used as an architectural wall column or door casing with a capital. This church column cover a structural steel pier.

The milled sections are lock mitered at the seams for a strong and smooth fit.

Both round and square columns may be shipped partially assembled into two halves for use as a wrap to hide existing structural piers. The edges retain the lock miter profile for easy assembly and minimal to no sanding required.
